Ruben Godwin-Suttie
Process chemist, Astrazeneca
Biography
Ruben graduated with a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of York in 2020, completing a final year project in the synthesis of medium rings with Dr Will Unsworth. He joined Carbosynth in 2021, working on the synthesis of modified carbohydrates and custom small molecules, before moving to AstraZeneca in 2022. Here, he joined the new modalities team in Early Chemical Development as a process chemist, working across a range of oligonucleotide projects. He has helped to establish an internal oligonucleotide process development capability, covering the full oligonucleotide workflow, from synthesis to purification and analysis. Recently, his role has expanded to include the development of novel targeting ligands for new modalities, combining small molecule and new modality process development. In addition to his process development activities, Ruben is a Britest facilitator and reviewer of internal scientific publications.
